Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 quarts filtered water
  • 6 tea bags (preferably Luzianne)
  • 12 cups seeded watermelon chunks
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine sugar and filtered water. Bring to a boil over medium heat until sugar dissolves (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat, add tea bags, cover, and steep for 15 minutes.
  2. While steeping, puree watermelon chunks with lime juice in a blender until smooth. Strain into a gallon-sized pitcher to remove pulp.
  3. Remove tea bags from the sweet tea base and pour it into the pitcher with pureed watermelon. Stir well to combine. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
