  • 5 tablespoons hot water
  • 4 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate
  • 3 oz heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F and grease a tube pan.
  2. In a small bowl, combine cocoa powder with hot water; set aside.
  3. Whisk together flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  4. Cream softened butter in a mixer, then gradually add sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated.
  6. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk mixed with vanilla to the butter mixture; mix just until combined.
  7. Divide batter into three bowls: leave one plain vanilla, mix another with cocoa mixture for chocolate layer, and keep the last as vanilla.
  8. Pour layers into the prepared tube pan and bake for about 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
