Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 4 ounces softened cream cheese
  • 2 diced jalapeños (seeds removed)
  • ½ cup green onion (diced)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine pepper jack cheese, cream cheese, jalapeños, and green onions.
  2. Roll the mixture into one-inch balls and refrigerate until firm.
  3. Set up a dredging station with flour in one dish, an egg-buttermilk mixture in another, and seasoned breadcrumbs in the last.
  4. Coat each ball in flour, dip in the egg mixture, and roll in breadcrumbs twice for extra crunch.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat; fry balls until golden brown on all sides.
  6. Drain on paper towels before serving.
