Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 ml milk
  • 7 g instant yeast
  • 20 g honey
  • 400 g flour
  • 1 egg
  • 40 g butter (plus 25 g for brushing)
  • 8 g salt
  • 50 g fine semolina
  • 20 ml olive oil
  • 450 g steak (chopped)
  • Spices: salt, cayenne powder, red bell pepper powder, onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley
  • Veggies: 80 g red onion (sliced), 75 g red bell pepper (sliced)
  • Cheese (grated) as desired

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine lukewarm milk, instant yeast, and honey; stir until dissolved.
  2. Add flour, beaten egg, butter, and salt; mix until combined. Knead for about 10-12 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about one hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Once risen, deflate the dough gently and divide it into sixteen equal pieces. Roll each into a ball and flatten slightly.
  5. Stack two flattened pieces on top of each other; press firmly with a rolling pin and dust with semolina.
  6. Let the shaped rolls rise again for thirty minutes on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. For the filling, heat olive oil and butter in a skillet; add chopped beef with spices and cook briefly before adding veggies until softened.
  8. Sprinkle grated cheese over the filling and let it melt.
  9. Preheat oven if necessary; bake rolls until golden brown on both sides in a hot skillet.
