  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 red and green bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 5 tbsp soy sauce (divided)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • ½ cup water or beef broth
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Garlic and ginger for added flavor

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef in a bowl with 2 tbsp soy sauce, cornstarch, rice vinegar, and sesame oil for at least 15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and water/beef broth; set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat with 1 tbsp vegetable oil. Add marinated beef; cook until browned (2–3 minutes per side). Remove from the skillet.
  4. Add remaining oil to the skillet; stir-fry bell peppers and onion for about 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and optional ginger; cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  5. Return beef to skillet; pour in the prepared sauce and stir well. Cook until the sauce thickens (about 2–3 minutes).
  6. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
