- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 red and green bell peppers, sliced
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 5 tbsp soy sauce (divided)
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- ½ cup water or beef broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Garlic and ginger for added flavor
Instructions
- Marinate the beef in a bowl with 2 tbsp soy sauce, cornstarch, rice vinegar, and sesame oil for at least 15 minutes.
- In another bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and water/beef broth; set aside.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat with 1 tbsp vegetable oil. Add marinated beef; cook until browned (2–3 minutes per side). Remove from the skillet.
- Add remaining oil to the skillet; stir-fry bell peppers and onion for about 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and optional ginger; cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Return beef to skillet; pour in the prepared sauce and stir well. Cook until the sauce thickens (about 2–3 minutes).
- Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
