  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup finely diced yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Garlic powder to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with foil.
  2. Slice ciabatta loaf in half and spread softened butter on each half. Sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned; drain excess fat.
  4. Add diced onion and cook until soft; add minced garlic for an additional 30 seconds.
  5. Mix in ketchup, water, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. Spread the sloppy joe mixture on the prepared garlic bread halves and top with cheeses.
  7. Bake for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
