- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup mashed overripe bananas (about 2 large)
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper and grease it lightly.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and salt; mix until combined.
- Gently stir in the flour until just incorporated—do not overmix.
- Fold in the mashed bananas and three-fourths of the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 33–37 minutes or until golden brown around the edges and set in the center.
- Allow to cool completely before slicing into squares.
