  • 125g unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 34 large Granny Smith apples, diced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • cinnamon
  • nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180C (350F). Grease and line an 8" square pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine melted butter, flour, white sugar, baking powder, and salt until smooth.
  3. Mix in the beaten egg until well combined.
  4. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the prepared pan for the base layer.
  5. Bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown; let cool slightly.
  6. While cooling, mix diced apples with additional flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  7. Spread apple mixture over the cooled base and crumble remaining dough on top.
  8. Bake for another 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
